Ben Padarath pleads guilty

Suva resident Benjamin Padarath pleaded guilty to one count of giving false information to a public servant after the summary of facts was read to him this morning.

Padarath appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court today with his lawyer Filimoni Vosarogo.

Magistrate Somaratne asked Defence to file their mitigation submission within one week’s time and to call character witnesses on the same day.

It is alleged that on the 23rd January, 2011, Padarath gave false information via text messages to the Director of Immigration, Nemani Vuniwaqa, intending to cause the Director of Immigration to put the name of one Paul Freeman on the Fiji Immigration watch list.

The case is adjourned to the 9th of this month for mitigation.
