A 63 year-old beggar who has been on the streets for 30 years has been reunited with her family.

Ani Ranadi, was profiled by the Coordinated Committee on Street Beggars early this year and it was found that she has nine children and had been begging on the streets to earn a living.

The Ministry for Women established contact with her youngest daughter, who lives in Nakaugasele village in Kadavu and she has volunteered to take in her mother and look after her.

Ranadi is now being assisted through the "Poverty Benefit Scheme” through which he is able to receive monthly cash allowances and $50 food voucher.

To date, 78 street beggars have been profiled. 48 are males and 28 are females.

50 of these beggars are on the streets in Suva.
