Low-McKenzie says whatever the situation maybe, parents need to realise that violent means of disciplining children should never be an option and it is against the law.

She says the misuse of power by parents and guardians pose high risk to children’s life.

The chief executive says there are more positive methods of disciplining children.

McKenzie adds the Government is responsible for upholding the Convention of the Right of the Child which was ratified in 1993.

She says with the “No Drop Policy” in hand, this also shows Government commitments in denouncing such abhorrent crimes.

McKenzie says this case also challenges everyone to report cases when witnessed or heard about because the life of a child is very precious.
