Bean carts will not be graded

Food sellers and bean carts on the roadside will not be graded under the Food Establishment Regulation.

They are governed by the Food Safety Regulations.

Food Unit Department Head Samu Bolalailai says only premises that deal with food processing will be graded.

“Their obligation is to make sure that they follow the good hygiene practise that is mandatory within the Food Safety Regulation.”

However, food sellers and bean cart operators that do not comply with safety standards can be fined $5000 or jailed for two years.
