A 50 year old barber of Lautoka has been sentenced to 11 years imprisonment for raping a teenager.

John Raghwan raped a 13 year old who had come in for a hair cut at his barber shop in May 2012.

The victim impact statement states the boy could not stop crying in class the next day and finally informed a teacher about what had happened.

The Lautoka High Court heard the teenager also could not concentrate and eventually dropped out of school as a result of the ordeal.

Raghwan must serve a minimum of 5 years before parole.
