Banaban VCO factory receives machinery assistance

An electric coconut scrapper and coconut milk extractor were handed over to the Banaban VCO factory on Rabi Island yesterday.

Handing over the machines, Minister for Women and Children Mereseini Vuniwaqa says she is impressed with the factory production of virgin coconut oil.

The Banaban VCO factory produces around 300 litres of oil a month, raking in $6,000.

Coordinator Terikano Takesau says the new machines would help them achieve their target of producing 500 litres of VCO in a month.

VCO products from the Island are sold at various hotels in and around Vanua Levu as well as some supermarkets.

The two machines cost over $7,000.
