Ballot papers sent to the North for voting

The Elections Office is making final preparations to send several containers of ballot papers for the two hundred and seventy four polling centres in the Northern Division.

The containers are at a secure storage facility in Lami and they will be shipped out today.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammad Saneem says the facility which is located at the Williams and Gosling Depot is secured.

“The facility is guarded round the clock by the Police and there are CCTV cameras installed in many places.”

Once the shipment of ballot papers and boxes will leave the observers and presiding officers in the North will be advised of the exact time of arrival.

Voting will take place from 7.30am to 6pm on Wednesday.
