Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says Opposition MP, Ro Teimumu Kepa has misled the people of Fiji by saying that he directed three confederacies be stopped from being part of the traditional welcome ceremony for the Royal Couple last month.

Ro Teimumu in her speech in Parliament this week said the omission of the three confederacies had come from higher authorities within Government.

Speaking to FBC News, Bainimarama says it is pure evil for Ro Teimumu to lie.

“As the plane departed with our Royal guests from Nadi, Ro Teimumu turned and thanked me and the PS Foreign Affairs for the program that was prepared and was very appreciative of the way it was hosted.”

He claims the story cooked up by Ro Teimumu was a bid to win votes and this was the reason it was directed at him.

“In order to win some votes she cooked up this story that the omission was deliberate and it was directed by me and as normal with the social pages when a lie is told by a lady of birth no less than the Marama Roko Tui Dreketi it was accepted as the truth.”

Bainimarama further adds that due to the lies, he believes, Ro Teimumu was able to win the votes but also had set her sights on being the President of Fiji.

“Of course she must have won a lot of votes on the basis of lies such as that but she was desperate or votes because a win in the polls by her party would mean the Presidency for her as promised by many in the SODELPA camp.”

Bainimarama says he has nothing to hide and has asked Ro Teimumu to stop the accusations, which he says will always be lies.
