The Suva High court has refused the bail application for a 35-year-old woman who allegedly killed her four-year-old daughter by driving her car off near Kasavu last month.

Rozleen Razia Nisha is charged with one count of murder.

On the night of 6th May, the victim and Nisha had left their home in Vuci South and on their way to Kasavu, it is alleged she called her husband stating she was going to take both their lives and drove her vehicle into the Rewa River.

Nisha made bail application on the grounds that she had to look after her two other children.

The state lawyer had objected to the application on the grounds of safety of children.

The prosecution also informed the court that Nisha had lived in Vanua Levu for 18 years and had relatives in Nadi. The prosecution also stated that Nisha was going through depression during the time of the alleged offence.

High Court Judge Justice Vincent Perera refused bail application on the grounds that Nisha was at substantial flight risk and the safety of the accused and her children.
