Bail granted for two former Post-Mistresses from Post Fiji Limited

Bail has been granted for two former Post-mistresses from Post Fiji Limited charged with conspiracy related offenses.

Sereseini Seru and Ane Mauleko are alleged to have caused the loss of $98,000 from Post Fiji Limited last year.

Seru has been charged by the Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption with one count each of conspiracy to defraud causing a loss and general dishonesty causing a Loss.

She’s also been charged with 11 counts of falsification of documents.

Mauleko has been charged with one count each of conspiracy to defraud causing a loss and general dishonesty causing a loss.

She’s also charged with eight counts of falsification of documents.

Mauleko is alleged to have falsified a remittance between Post Offices form amounting to $21, 000 while Seru falsified four office summary reports.

It’s alleged that between April and June last year at the Nabua and Nakasi Post Offices, the two falsified details on forms, namely, the application for electronic money order and application to receive money order which allowed system payments of $98, 000.

The FICAC counsel informed the court that first phase disclosures were served and requested the court to impose strict bail conditions for both accused.

The two yesterday provided two sureties and have been instructed not to re-offend or interfere with witnesses and surrendered their passports.

A stop departure order has been placed and the accused persons have been informed to report to the FICAC Office every Tuesday.

The matter will be recalled today.
