October 20, 2014 7:35 pm

The Biosecurity Authority of Fiji (BAF) has a budget of $400,000 from the government this year to fight the spread of termites.

BAF Executive Chairman Xavier Riyaz Khan says they are seriously committed to controlling and containing the Asian Subterranean Termites in Lautoka and Labasa.

Khan says they have received 10 new complaints in Labasa from the Basoga area which is already heavily infested with termites.

He says biosecurity officers attend to these complaints and treatment is provided free of charge to all infested houses.

Earlier this year BAF opened its new office in Labasa to attend to termite cases in the area.
