Bad weather a challenge for FRA

October 25, 2015 5:08 am

The recent rain and bad weather in the central division has proved to be a big challenge says the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA).

FRA chief executive Neil Cook says over the last six months has been unusually wet.

“You can’t build roads in the rain it’s as simple as that and if you try to do too much things in the rain then you end up with a product that will not last.”

Cook added that despite that FRA says they are reasonably happy with the progress that has been made across the country this year.

In its proposed work programme for 2015 FRA allocated a total of $178million for road renewals and maintenance, $47.6million on bridges and $12million on jetties.
