Mocenacagi named as 13th player: Tabu to debut

March 1, 2019 4:31 pm

Fiji Airways sevens coach Gareth Baber has avoided a gamble and named Sevuloni Mocenacagi as his 13th player for the Las Vegas tournament.

The Las Vegas tournament starts tomorrow in the USA.

Mocenacagi is still serving his suspension and has three more games to miss and hence would have not been able to feature in any of the pool games.

There is not all gloom for the Mocenacagi household, as his brother Isoa Tabu has been named in the 12-member squad and should make his international bow tomorrow.

There are no major surprises in the side, with Baber going for his tried and tested team in the quest to lift the Vegas title.

The Fiji 7s side kicks off its campaign against Scotland at 11.22am tomorrow, meets Wales at 2.23pm before playing Australia at 7.52am on Sunday in its last pool match.

The Cup quarters begin at 1.46pm on Sunday, semis at 9.12am next Monday and the Cup final will be played at 12.30pm.

You can watch the entire tournament live on FBC TV.

Full team:

Isoa Tabu, Josua Vakurunabili, Kalione Nasoko, Paula Dranisinukula, Mesulame Kunavula, Meli Derenalagi, Vilimoni Botitu, Waisea Nacuqu, Jerry Tuwai, Alasio Naduva, Aminiasi Tuimaba, Terio Veilawa. 1th man: Sevuloni Mocenacagi.
