Awareness a priority for Online Safety Commission: AG

Awareness will be a priority for the Online Safety Commission before work rolls out.

Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the Online Safety Bill which seeks to promote a safe online culture and environment through the Commission will be led by Commissioner Anne Dunn.

Sayed-Khaiyum also highlighted how the $300,000 budget will be utilized.

“It will facilitate the payment of commissioner’s salary, will facilitate any of the expenses for example advertisement campaigns and in due course will hire new staff but in the meantime the Commissioner has spoken to the Solicitor General from the AG’s chambers to provide assistance in terms of administrative matters etc.”

Meanwhile, the commissioner Anne Dunn says the Commission will provide efficient means of redress for individuals.

Dunn says the Commission will promote responsible online behaviour and online safety

The commission will be based at Suvavou House.
