The Lowy Institute has found a majority of Australian support their government re-engaging with Fiji.
This year’s poll of Australian opinions included the question asking if the government should re-engage at a ministerial level with Fiji government.
Nearly 80 per cent gave their support.
The Acting Head of the Lowy Institute’s Melanesian Program, Annmarree O’Keefe says in many ways that re-engagement has begun.
Foreign Minister Bob Carr earlier this week had announced that Australia
Has offered $2.6m to support Fiji’s elections.
The Australian poll has been released less than a year since a Lowy poll of Fijian attitudes indicated support for the government.
