Australian tourists injured in boating incident

Five Australian tourists have been airlifted to the Suva Private Hospital after a boating accident in the upper Sigatoka River.

The five were in a safari boat, captained by a 23 year-old – when it overturned near Tubairata Village.

All five – two males and three females -suffered injuries and were initially taken to the Sigatoka Hospital before being airlifted to Suva.

The boat captain also suffered injuries.

The incident happened at around 10am.

Police officers from Sigatoka are at the scene – carrying out their investigation.
