The death of Australian national Jennifer Downes has been classified as murder.
Police confirmed this following the post-mortem investigation that was conducted today.
Downes was allegedly murdered at a flat along Service Street in Suva on Tuesday afternoon.
Her husband, Henry Lusaka John who is the key suspect is now in stable condition and will be questioned after he is released from the CWM hospital.
The victim and the suspect are Australian nationals and have three children.
Downes relatives have also arrived in Fiji.
The Australian reports the Minister for Foreign Affairs Marise Payne said yesterday that she is deeply saddened by the death of Downes and that her deepest sympathies go out to the family.
It’s believed that Downes father traveled to Fiji from Australia on Monday to take her three children.
Payne says the Australian government has zero-tolerance for violence against women and their children, both at home and abroad.
