An Australian engineering consultant company has been engaged by the Fiji Ports Corporation Limited to carry out a condition assessment at Fiji’s two main wharfs.

The two main wharfs are in Lautoka and Suva.

Chief Executive, Vajira Piasena confirms that some of the infrastructures are old and the need to get them removed is vital.

Piasena says once this is completed, they will then determine the exact amount needed for the repairs of the aged infrastructure.

“It’s a critical thing that we look at infrastructure and identify the one that needs repair and to do a proper extensive conditions assessment and identify the conditions and any repairs that they have to do.”

The consultant team is already on the ground conducting assessment work.
