Australia commits $774k aid

The Australian government has announced a further assistance towards Fiji’s humanitarian efforts.

Australian High Commissioner to Fiji John Feakes announced a further $774,602 worth of grants to the National Disaster Management Office, local CSO partners and the Education Ministry.

Feakes says they will continue to support the government in strengthening its preparedness and response capacity through funding to Civil Society Organizations and government partners.

Feakes made the announcement as he closed the one-day NDMO CSO Cooperation workshop at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.

The workshop was aimed at encouraging dialogue around effective humanitarian coordination strategies in Fiji and its emergency preparedness and response mechanisms.
