Auditor General’s Office attends 4th Supreme Audit Meeting

Fiji will actively attend meetings and workshops to carry out audits on the extractive industry for the benefit of all Fijians.

Speaking at the 4th meeting of International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions Working Group on Audit of Extractive Industries, Fiji’s Auditor- General, Ajay Nand says building capacity in the area of an audit of the extractive industry is important.

Nand who was accompanied by two other members presented on Fiji’s achievements in the Working Group on Audit of Extractive Industries which included and alignment of the Terms of Reference, development of communication strategy, creating awareness within Fiji, on-going capacity building; and formulation and distribution of a survey questionnaire in Fiji and the region.

The meeting that was held in Manila, Philippines focused on the theme ‘Illicit Financial Flows in Extractive Industries.

The Fijian delegation updated the working group on “Promoting Information sharing in Extractive Industries “.

The purpose of the meeting was to get an update on the progress of the implementation of the work plan which was established to ensure that objectives of Working Group on Audit of Extractive Industries were met.
