January 14, 2019 8:41 am

The Auditor General Ajay Nand has submitted several changes he would like to see reviewed by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Justice, Law and Human Rights in the Code of Conduct Bill.

While endorsing the need for the proposed legislation that aims to provide a uniform code of conduct for all public office holders, the AG notes the need for specific definitions and more clarity on several clauses.

“There are some areas the Bill can be strengthened to capture its fullest intent which is to promote accountability and transparency in public institutions.”
