The government will this week carry out further audit inspection to see how many people still deserve the Help for Homes Initiative.

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum says this is another practical issue that needs to be solved before the second round of distribution of hardware materials in the next two weeks.

“One of the requirements is that the hardware must be delivered to the people who have actually ordered it so we’ve had issues where they are not answering their phones or not available ,some people have gone overseas for holidays and some people have moved places and some people are saying we don’t want it now because we are not ready for it now. We have a village in Lomaiviti where they saying we want only delivery of five homes at a time.”

Sayed-Khaiyum also says there is pressure for the supply of materials due to the amount of construction currently underway.
