The police officer said that he and the others ran towards the call to see a man in the pool who told the officers that he needed help.

The court heard when the officers pulled Padyachi out of the pool they saw a woman come to the surface.

The woman was laid on the ground where she regained her breath and told Sivo that Padyachi had tried to drown her.

The witness also told the court that the victim had scratches on the upper side of her body.

It is alleged that when Padyachi pushed his partner into the water on September 15th he intended to drown her.

The 28-year-old faces one count of attempted murder.

The trial continues today at the Suva High Court.
