ATS strikers told to follow procedures

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama slammed Air Terminal Services employees who are currently on strike for not following the right procedure.

Bainimarama says that they have laws that allow employees to strike if they are not satisfied.

“Those laws lay out procedures and timelines that everyone must adhere to .In fact adherence to such procedures goes to practical making and implementation of the rule of law.”

He adds that he wants all Fijians to share the prosperity the government created which includes the rights of employees to press for better pay and working condition.

“The recent walkout of employees from ATS was a poor example of teamwork because it not only put the livelihoods of their colleagues at risk but other Fijians who are working for various companies at the airport and within the wider tourism and air transport industry.”

Bainimarama also reminded the workers not to buy into false promises from people such as trade union officials and opportunists politicians

The Prime Minister adds that trade unionist and politicians have influenced the striking ATS employees and are preventing them from going back to work.
