Assault on Police officers inexcusable: ACP Tudravu

Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu says the assault on their officers is intolerable.

ACP Tudravu says it’s inexcusable for members of the public to assault officers who are simply doing their job.

In the last 24 hours, there have been three separate incidents of assault on police officers.

“Our response will be very immediate not and there will be a task force implemented quickly and we’ll go to the furthest island to catch people that are assaulting Police Officers and we will deplore all the manpower’s that we have, all the capabilities that we have in order for us to get them quickly.  We do not condone and I want this to stop in Fiji, assault on Police officers.”

Among the assaults, one included a police officer been attacked while on duty at the Cunningham Community post by a man wielding an axe.

In another incident, the police officer sustained facial injuries while arresting a man suspected to be involved with drugs.

And in Sigatoka, an officer had his life threatened while carrying out a routine booking of a taxi driver allegedly parked illegally.
