Asbestos removed from old Nausori market

The Nausori Town Council has safely removed all the materials believed to have contained asbestos from the old Nausori Market.

Town Council Chief Executive, Akhtar Ali says these materials were safely removed with the help of relevant authorities ensuring the safety of the public.

“With regards to the Old Market project we just completed the asbestos removal, that project was completed in December, at the moment we are currently involved in the demolition of the old structures, as soon as we complete the demolition and the removal of the old structure, we will commence with the signing of the agreement with the investor.”

Ali says the demolition of the old market is expected to be completed in the next two weeks.

A $50million dollar Shop ‘N’ Save supermarket will be built on the old market site.
