The ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards is this year encouraging a specialised focus on human resource development.

Speaking during the launch of the awards in Suva this morning, Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association President Dixon Seeto says the FETA will focus on recognising hotels and tourism operators who are lifting the customer service standards.

Seeto says this by providing on-going training for staff and transforming their service standards.

“Our competitive advantage against other tourism destinations is our people and the ANZ FETA wants to encourage the tourism industry to continue to lift the bar of service excellence. Fiji remains the destination of choice through our renowned hospitality.”

Naming rights sponsors ANZ Fiji’s Country Head Saud Minam says the tourism industry continues to be the backbone of the economy and those who play a key role in maintaining the sector’s standards need to be recognised.

“Last year we have seen a great enthusiasm in the ANZ FETA and we expect to have the same results this year around. It is an event that we expect to generate a lot of interest as it gives recognition to those in the tourism sector.”

The award will be held on February 16th next year at the Sofitel Resort and Spa on Denerau Island, Nadi.
