A number of anomalies in the books of the Ministry of Health were pickup by the Public Accounts Committee today.

The audited 2014 and 2015 reports revealed, the development projects suffered a huge delay in completion and cause the ministry the extra dollar.

Committee members, Aseri Radrodro questioned why there wasn’t any ‘delay damage claims’ made for the development of the Makoi Health Unit and the CWM Hospital extension project.

“161 days delay at that time so that incurs additional cost and so there is someone that should be responsible for this additional cost.”

Permeant Secretary, Philip Davis clarified the development projects were previously looked after by another Ministry and they are still learning the process of vetting.

“We will find the files for these two projects from 2012 and 2015 and we will examine them and see what the delay is attributed too and see if we can claim any delay damages.”

The lack of clarification and information left the Public Accounts Committee in confusion however, the Health Ministry has promised to address the question.
