The Online Safety Bill which was passed in the parliament earlier this year will come into effect from Tuesday.
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the Bill which seeks to promote online safety through the Online Safety Commission will be led by Commissioner Anne Dunn.
Sayed-Khaiyum says awareness will be created so those who are fast falling prey to social media abuse and online content can have a place to lodge complaints.
“To promote responsible online behaviour and online safety, promote a safe online culture and environment that addresses cyber bullying, cyber stalking, internet trolling and exposure to offensive or harmful content particularly in respect to children.”
The commission will be based at Suvavou House in Suva.
