A man in his 20’s who allegedly brutally attacked and raped a university student on Holland Street in Suva in December 2016 will stand for trial in October this year.

Isoa Rainima is charged with seven counts of rape, one count of assault with intent to rape, and one count of robbery appeared in the Suva High court yesterday.

Rainima was arrested in February last year, two months after the alleged rape when police took him in for questioning in relation to an alleged day light robbery in Nabua.

Rainima’s trial is scheduled to begin on the 15th October.
