A man alleged to have raped a 12-year-old girl in Lakena last week has been charged.

Police confirm that the accused has been charged with one count of abduction of person under 18 years with intent to have carnal knowledge, wrongful confinement, indecently annoying any person, assault with intent to commit rape and rape.

The accused is expected at the Nausori Magistrates Court later this morning for his first appearance.
