Alleged murderer remanded

A 29- year-old truck driver from Malamala, Nadi appeared in the Nadi Magistrates court for allegedly murdering his wife earlier this month.

Moneel Narayan is charged with one count of murder.

It is alleged that he murdered his wife believed to be in her 20s on 11th of this month.

Narayan has been remanded in custody.

The matter has been transferred to the Lautoka High Court.

Narayan was taken in for questioning after the victim’s family members reported her missing.

Upon investigation, Police received information the man allegedly inflicted serious harm on his wife.

FBC News can also confirm the man had confessed to the alleged incident which prompted the Police to search his compound and found what is believed to be burnt human remains that were buried.

The forensic tests conducted confirmed the remains was his wife who was reported missing earlier this month.

The matter will be called in the High court on 17th October.
