Avniel Dilesh Mani

An 18-year-old man from Sigatoka who is alleged to have murdered a 57-year-old man appeared at Lautoka Magistrates Court today.

The alleged incident happened last Friday in Malala, Lautoka in the victim’s house.

Avniel Dilesh Mani of Lomawai is charged with one count of murder, three counts of theft, one count of burglary and one count of driving a motor vehicle without a license.

Mani’s lawyer applied for bail stating that his client is willing to abide by strict conditions.

However, Police Prosecutor Paul Taito objected to this – stating the alleged offenses are serious.

Mani has been further remanded and will reappear on the 26th of this month at the Lautoka High Court.
