Three men of Kadavu allegedly involved in the cultivation of illicit drugs, appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court this afternoon.

Amani Masikerei, Samuela Natokalau and Viliame Kawa were charged with the unlawful cultivation of 1,440 plants.

The total weight of the suspected marijuana seized was 1,046.8 kilograms.

One of the accused Amani Masikerei was injured at the time of the arrest and was excused by the court to get medical check.

It’s believed Masikerei sustained injuries to his feet.

The case has been transferred to the Suva High Court and will be called on the 26th of January.

The three accused are remanded in custody.
