Alleged human trafficker to appear in the Suva High Court

September 3, 2018 5:51 pm

31-year old Seeta Sanjana Ram appeared in the Suva High Court yesterday charged with 35 various charges including 16 counts of alleged human trafficking.

Ram is charged along with her sister Geeta Anjana Chandar who ran a travel agency on Nina Street in Suva when they were alleged to have trafficked 17 Fijian nationals to New Zealand from April to August of 2014.

The case on its first call yesterday had to be adjourned after a mix up with Ram’s documents which led to her late presentation in court.

Ram’s sister Chandar who resides in Australia was charged in absentia and an arrest warrant issued for her to be extradited to Fiji to answer to the allegations.

The matter is expected to be recalled this morning before Justice Daniel Goundar in the Suva High Court.
