Alleged fake doctor further remanded

52-year-old Seba Sitiano Bukanikoro who allegedly claimed to be a doctor has been further remanded in custody by the Nasinu Magistrate court.

Bukanikoro has been charged with four counts of obtaining property by deception and one count of use of certain titles or descriptions prohibited contrary to the Medical and Dental Practitioners Decree 2010.

It is alleged that the incident occurred between the 3rd and 7th of this month and that Bukanikoro operated as a medical practitioner where he attended to patients with a consultation fee of $75 and in the process he obtained $450.

The prosecution has asked for more time to respond to the bail application.
Bukanikoro will re-appear next Wednesday.


Alleged Fake doctor further remanded

The 51-year-old man who is alleged to have been operating as a doctor since 2014 without registration or medical qualifications has been further remanded in custody.

Paramvir Maharaj who was operating under the name “Dr Robert” appeared in the Nasinu Magistrates Court this morning and applied for bail which was denied.

Police Prosecution have been given time to respond to the bail application.

Maharaj who was allegedly operating from his residence at Omkar Road in Narere will reappear in Court on 2nd November.

He is charged with one count of using the title “doctor” without being registered as a medical practitioner, one count of practicing and professing as a medical practitioner and one count of financial advantage where he allegedly took eight hundred dollars from one Barbara Begum.

The alleged incident took place between the 6th to the 26th of last month.
