Agriculture ministry will enhance exports: Pillay

For the next four years, the agriculture ministry will work on increasing exports.

Assistant Minister for Agriculture Viam Pillay says to bring about changes, the ministry will invest largely on mechanization.*

He says thinking bigger, mechanization and more employment will be made available, which will sustain more Fijian livelihoods.

Pillay says the ministry will encourage more mechanization of crop cultivation and harvesting.

”We will also focus on improving the delivery of agriculture support services to our farmers, improving agriculture means that will directly support our farmers, our households and our communities. We will continue to support our agro processes and exporters as they add value to our produce and expand our export opportunities.”

Pillay says the ministry will provide all the support for the farmers to bring about efficiency and effectiveness.

He says more development and research will also be conducted to improve crop production.
