There are restrictions on cattle movement due to Bovine Tuberculosis.

This were highlighted by Director Animal Health and Production Avinesh Dayal following the outbreak of tuberculosis and brucellosis in most farms especially in the Central Division.

Dayal says it is important for farmers to follow this in an effort to limit the spread of TB from infected cattle herd to healthy cattle and calves.

He says they’ve noticed that some farmers have been transporting animals, however that shouldn’t be the case.

If you are trying to move animals, please take advice from the Ministry of agriculture and Biosecurity Authority so that they can give you proper permits for the movement .At the moment there’s a declaration and the movement is strictly prohibited from farms to farms.

Meanwhile a total of two hundred and fifty cattle have been slaughtered so far this year due to tuberculosis.
