Agriculture Ministry conducts training for farmers

In the bid to enhance the potato industry, the Ministry of Agriculture as part of its outreach to farmers conducted a training for farmers from the provinces of Serua and Namosi.

The training was aimed on the implementation of correct husbandry practices in potatoes in order to maximize its production.

Senior Agriculture Officer, Mohammed Kadir Khan says the training will assist in the progress of rural development.

Khan says potato cultivation and management practices, economic pests of potato, pre and post-harvest management and proper seed selection were some aspects of the training.

Meanwhile, similar potato training will be held in the Western, Central and Northern Divisions and in Levuka.
