The Agriculture Ministry is committed to providing platforms for farmers in order to exchange information and knowledge.

Last week, the Ministry with Fiji Crop Livestock Council organized a workshop for farmers to discuss non-agricultural sector policies and regulations.

Agriculture Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy says through these avenues they aim to identify issues, challenges and opportunities available for farmers and their organization.

“You see we don’t have a simple database. At least we need to have a register with contact details so that we can meet and pass information. It is important to pass information.”

Dr Reddy says such workshops enable farmers to understand the agriculture policies, regulations and related support services.

He says the workshop allows farmers to formulate goals and strategies for higher productivity and income, improved livelihood and food security.
