Agriculture ministry allocated $97m

The Agriculture Ministry has been allocated $97million in the 2018/2019 budget.

Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the Ministry will focus on building a goat industry.

“We’re confident we can establish a brand for goat meat in Fiji that will give customers more choices in the market. Lower price and support the livelihoods of goat farmers around the country. We will also be destocking dairy farms of cows suffering from tuberculous. We will pay for the restocking of the dairy farms with new cows breed from superior stock.”

Sayed-Khaiyum says they will support local goat farmers and assist with veterinarian services, help prepare the land, construct fencing and provide water sources.
