The aging infrastructure in pumping stations in the Central Division is a challenge faced by the Water Authority.

While visiting the four pumping stations in the Suva – Nausori corridor, Minister responsible, Jone Usamate says he now has a clear understanding of how WAF officers work in order to meet the demands of Fijians.

“So I now have a much better understanding of the issues faced by the Water Authority, what their plans are for the future and I will be gradually looking into this area to continue to improve the provision of water services to all of our people in this part of Fiji.”

Usamate says the increasing population in the Central division has surge the demands of water supply and WAF is working around the clock to meet these needs.

He adds they are also working on developing a new Viria Pump station to help address the issue.

The Minister visited the Kinoya, Tamavua, Waila and the Waimanu pumping stations earlier this week.
