Social Media comments made by Opposition and SODELPA MP Niko Nawaikula claiming that government is exploiting Fiji Pine landowners is utter nonsense.

This was the statement made by the Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while responding to questions on the reason of the major payout given to landowners.

Sayed-Khaiyum says this is so uncalled for, as reports are available which clearly states financial details of the Fiji Pine Limited and which Nawaikula can have access to.

“He made a post on facebook and he says how the Fiji Pine Landowners were exploited by government, seven million dollars is peanuts, compared to what was promised and what they deserve, Fiji Pine Limited has not filed any annual accounts in 2003 and 2005, what utter nonsense, if he actually made the effort to check the Ministry of forestry and all the details are there with them”

Sayed-Khaiyum says financial reports and share structures are available with the Fiji Pine Limited and that Opposition members should take time and see it to clear any confusion and doubts.

He says they will continue to deliver the best for Fiji Pine Landowners as they have the right to get the returns from their lands.
