Fiji and the United Arab Emirates have discussed opportunities for UAE investors and commercial enterprises in various sectors and using Fiji as a hub to venture into other Pacific island countries.
Attorney General and Finance Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum discussed opportunities in banking, tourism, financial markets and public-private partnerships with the Governor of UAE’s Central Bank, Mubarak Rashed Al Mansoori in Abu Dhabi.
Sayed-Khaiyum also informed the Governor of Fiji’s economic progress and reforms.
A statement says Governor Al Mansoori, who also CEO of Emirates Investment Authority recognised Fiji’s economic advancement and reforms in recent times.
Sayed-Khaiyum was accompanied by the Ambassador to the UAE, Robin Nair, Permanent Secretary for Finance, Filimone Waqabaca and government officials from the Fijian Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
