The Open Merit Recruitment and Selection Guideline which will apply across all Government Ministries and Departments has been developed.

Minister for Civil Service Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the OMRS Guideline has been developed taking into account the provisions of the Constitution, and with the assistance of overseas experts.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the merit recruitment guideline incorporates internationally recognized standards and best practices.

The guideline promotes fairness, transparency and accountability in regards to the recruitment, selection and even training processes in Government.

The Attorney General adds the focus of this guideline is to recruit the best and brightest people into the civil service.

He adds that this involves providing a framework that also encourages applications from outside the civil service and fosters open competition for all positions.

The OMRS Guideline is also available online on the Fijian Government website at www.fiji.gov.fj.

This will be one of several guidelines issued by the Civil Service Reform Management Unit.
