Questions raised by people on the role of the Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum’s involvement in parliament are based on racism.

Sayed-Khaiyum made this statement while responding to questions of similar nature during the National Budget road show in Nasinu last night.

Sayed-Khaiyum was asked during the discussion as to why there are rumours and speculations of him running the show in government with many portfolios under his name.

He says he is not the only one in parliament having more than one portfolio and these comments are made along racial lines.

“You see I think the reason of what it is, I’ll be frank with you and you be frank with me, this is a racist thing frankly, I think its racist because they see me as a kai idia therefore that’s the problem.”

During the budget roadshow, Sayed-Khaiyum also clarified the many claims made on the 2018/19 National Budget.
The participants sought clarification on education initiatives, the new maternity and paternity leave and government’s debt level.
