AG clarifies Monasavu issue

Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has clarified issues pertaining to the Monasavu Landowners.

The Monasavu Landowners have been trying to change the way their lease money is distributed, however their efforts have not prevailed.

Sayed-Khaiyum says government have tried to assist them but unfortunately there are differences between the thirteen landowning Units in Monasavu.

“Now some may argue that the deal they got was not necessarily good and we have landowners who have some to see us too, Unfortunately at the moment madam speaker there is about 12 to 13 landowning units, they do not necessarily have a uniform approach to go forward and that the issue and we have actually discuss that with them.”

Sayed-Khaiyum revealed that currently the Monasavu Landowners receives three sources of revenue and government is trying all it can to assist them.
