Attorney-General and Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum met with the Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Iwao HORII to discuss the Nadi River flood protection project, among other topics.
In their meeting the Vice-Minister commended Fiji for its successful COP23 leadership, expressing Japan’s continued support in the global fight against climate change, and encouraged closer Fijian-Japanese cooperation in other areas of shared strategic interest.
He also welcomed Fiji Airways’ recently-announced direct flight to Tokyo, a gateway to new opportunities for both countries in trade, tourism, and investment.
Sayed-Khaiyum says Japan’s experience in addressing extreme weather events, paired with its cutting-edge technology and innovative thinking, can greatly assist us in moving forward the Nadi River Flood Protection Project.
