One of the many important discussions for Fiji at the Asian Development Bank’s high level meeting will take place today.
The role of tourism for sustainable development will be discussed by a panel which includes a representative from Fiji.
With tourism as one of the fastest growing industries in the world, development in Asia and the Pacific is a key part expansion.
The seminar will focus on how the region offers incredibly diverse tourist destinations and how it has become a major source of global tourists.
However, a rapid surge of tourists can also put stress on local infrastructure and have serious environmental consequences.
The seminar will note how Asia’s policy makers face the challenge of guiding the expansion of tourism in a way that protects the environment, particularly ocean health and improving the quality of life of local residents.
A distinguished panel will reflect on their experiences to highlight policy options to ensure a sustainable future for Asia’s tourism.
