Bainimarama says world leaders will need to arm themselves with the ability to act now and they can’t wait for communities to be drowned out by the encroaching tides.

He says there is a great need for adequate resources for a holistic approach.

The Prime Minister says the Fijian government is seed funding the Climate Trust Fund through a percentage of the revenue from our Environment and Climate Adaptation Levy – ECAL and henceforth on a regular basis.

Based on current projections, the annual allocation from ECAL will be approximately five million dollars a year but Bainimarama says this is not enough.

Bainimarama is calling on World leaders to support small Pacific island nations as they undertake this enormous task.
